Man. We’ve got so much going on here in Witch Doctor Town that I’m having trouble keeping people updated about it!
But the next thing is this: Witch Doctor: Under the Knife, an art show detailing the birth and evolution of Witch Doctor at Sequential Art Gallery here in Portland. The gallery opening is tomorrow, April 7, during downtown’s First Thursday art walk from 6-10 pm. (Here’s the , if that’s how you roll.) Lukas will of course be on hand; I will too. Plus, Witch Doctor: First Incision 2010 (the issue we put out at San Diego Comic Con 2010) will finally be on sale in Portland at the event!
The EXTRA awesome thing about this is that the universe has conspired to give you a full night’s worth of Witch Doctor-themed activities, as OMSI Science Pub has a presentation about Henrietta Lacks, whose cancer cells have lived on as their own self-perpetuating organism, HeLa, in labs around the world. And also? Amazing local dark folk act Run On Sentence is doing a birthday show at The Woods, Southeast Portland’s funeral parlor-turned-venue. So if you really want to make a night of it, go to Science Pub, then come to the art show, and end your night at The Woods!
Lukas and I are also guests of Stumptown Comics Fest, which is next weekend April 16 and 17. We’ll have more information about that when I’ve got time to share it, including the times and locations of the panels we’ll be on! I’m also hoping to find time for a WonderCon recap, or at least a roundup on the press that’s coming out of there about us.
