Brandon Seifert — Writer/Creator
Brandon Seifert is a comics writer and journalist from Fairbanks, Alaska who currently resides in Portland, Oregon. Brandon was a student in Brian Michael Bendis’ inaugural comics-writing class at Portland State University in 2010, and returned to the class as Bendis’ T.A. for the winter 2011 class. The medical horror comic book Witch Doctor, with artist Lukas Ketner, is Brandon’s first work as a professional comics writer. Brandon and Lukas are also collaborating on an issue of the Escape From Alcatraz educational comic book series published by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, focusing on the notorious 1946 “Battle of Alcatraz.” Brandon’s resumé reflects the array of odd-jobs you’d expect from any aspiring writer; he’s done everything from clean bathrooms in a youth hostel in Hawai’i to sell punk and goth clothing in a booth at the Alaska State Fair.
Lukas Ketner — Artist/Creator
Lukas Ketner is a professional illustrator and comics artist based in Portland, Oregon. Hailing from Anchorage, Alaska, Lukas’ illustration work has earned him a place in the Communication Arts Illustration Annual on several occasions, a high accomplishment in the commercial art world. Lukas’ self-published work on the medical horror comic book Witch Doctor with writer Brandon Seifert garnered Lukas a nomination for the 2009 Russ Manning Award, given to outstanding newcomers in the field of comics art. Since his self-published debut, Lukas has gone on to draw for Dark Horse Comics (including the first new story for the resurrected Creepy Magazine) and Top Shelf Productions. Lukas has contributed to Supersized: Strange Tales From A Fast-Food Culture (a collection of stories based on the Morgan Spurlock documentary Super Size Me, published by Dark Horse Comics), and is working with his collaborator Brandon Seifert on a non-fiction piece based on the 1946 “Battle of Alcatraz” for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy.
